Was on the mighty Mississippi River when effects of a hurricane came thru. Catching catfish in 30mph winds with friend Bob Crosby and Phillip Gentry. Bob operates Blue Cat Guide Service out of Vicksburg MS and Phillip is an outdoor writer and talk show host.
Dr. Derek Kelley told me that his wife, Hallie, always seems to catch more fish. This trip was no different, Hallie caught more and bigger! Dr. Kelley and Hallie both work in the medical field. Captain David had a great time with these folks!

Danny and Kelly Kurjian from Northeast Ohio made the Mississippi River part of their honeymoon. 1st time on big river and both got their biggest catfish ever!
Kailen Bridges and Darius Brooks (aka “HANGUP”) enjoyed the morning with CAT’N AROUN’. Very enjoyable for Capt. David to be around young men like these. Both work for Georgia Pacific and have very bright futures ahead. Puts a smile on my face to meet and see young men, such as Kailen and Darius.
Taylor Wright from Columbus Ms got her “Line Stretched” with CATN’ AROUN’ Guide Service today. 34# Bluecat! Now she has out done her husband, Clinton Wright. He is at 30# for his biggest! She said HA! HA!
Jude and Warner Hawkins having a blast catching them Mississippi River Catfish. Jude, 13 and Warner, 11 caught the biggest fish of their life. Jude started with a 13# then Warner trumped him with a 15#. Jude got an 8# and Warner said he needed a 9# to beat him but went ahead and got an 18#. Warner said he had the family record and Jude had little fish record with his 6 ounce baby cat. Capt. David had a good time with these boys today. The boys grandaddy, Danny Hawkins, and dad Joey Hawkins made this trip possible. All these guys are from Calhoun City, MS.
